During Week 5 for Design QUT, students are encouraged to participate in a project as classes are given a one week break. With prior interest in John Mongard’s Landscape work at the Atherton tablelands, this project at the time seemed like a terrific opportunity. Students from 3rd year Landscape Design had been partaking in this subject throughout this semester; however for myself this was a one week project to be involved in.
Throughout my time in Bingara, over 1000 horticulture plants and trees were planted within the specific site, and as a group of three, we designed and presented the inaugural ‘Bingara chicken train concept’ to the Gwydir shire council and fellow community members. This Bingara chicken train concept went onto project for which the Gwydir shire council were interested in developing.
Under the guidance of John Mongard, Sean Chidgey and myself designed the Vagabond Chooks and Bingara's Olympic Chooks concepts, for which were presented to the council with view to being implemented into the Living Classroom project late 2014. Further detail can be viewed in the panels below.
